Sister Study

There is an exciting new study that is analyzing 50,000 sisters of women diagnosed with breast cancer to investigate environmental and genetic causes of breast cancer.  It is the largest study of its kind to look at breast cancer risk factors. Women who may have felt helpless as they watched their sisters battle breast cancer now have an opportunity to help researchers learn more about causes of the disease.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure, The American Cancer Society, Sisters Networks, Inc. and Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization, as well as countless local community groups support this study.

Women are eligible if they meet these criteria:

• They have not had breast cancer themselves.
• They are between the ages of 35-74 years old.
• Their sister had breast cancer.
• They live in the United States or Puerto Rico.

Update: The study is no longer seeking Caucasian women.

Women can enroll by visiting the website– www.sisterstudy.org, or calling 1-877-474-7837.
