Amy Benson

Event Coordinator

Amy joined the Oregon and SW Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in August, 2011. A native Oregonian, Amy received her Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Communication Studies from the University of Oregon, graduating in 2007. Near the end of her studies, Amy developed a passion for events and hasn’t stopped planning since.

Before becoming a part of the Komen team, Amy spent three years working in corporate events – first coordinating trade shows and other events for MINDBODY, a California-based online software company, then as a meeting and event planner with Henry V Events, an event marketing agency located in Portland. In these previous positions, Amy has led event logistics in all aspects from site selection and contract negotiation to food and beverage management and travel arrangements. She prides herself on her customer service skills, her organization and her ability to be the calm in the storm.

As the Event Coordinator for the local Affiliate, Amy supports all events, most notably the Portland and Eugene Race for the Cure events, Lunch for the Cure, and the Partner Appreciation Event. She hopes that her contributions to Komen will help to further its promise of saving lives and ending breast cancer forever.

When away from the office, Amy enjoys spending time outdoors, baking, catching local concerts, running and yoga.
