Gail BrownmillerCommunity Programs ManagerGail has thrived since 2004 in the position of Community Programs Manager of the Komen Oregon and SW Washington Affiliate. Every day, she hears the stories of those whose lives have been eased and uplifted by the education and early-detection and screening services Komen supports. As Community Programs Manager, she works together with the leaders of community organizations, health organizations and the health-care advocates who work toward the day when prevention and treatment have effectively found the cure for breast cancer. Gail blends her expertise in non-profit management with her faith-based goals to strive for justice and peace in our complex society. Prior to her work at the Affiliate Gail was the Executive Director of Episcopal Senior Living Services, Inc. in Oregon, where she secured the development and operation of programs through grants and fundraising with churches, community groups, foundations and businesses. She worked as Development Project Coordinator for the City of Hillsboro to improve and align activities related to affordable housing and transportation issues. She also created, managed and obtained funding for two start-up non-profit housing agencies — Housing Options For the Mentally Ill, in Illinois and Almost Home, in Colorado. Gail holds a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from Lewis and Clark College and a B.S. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. Gail is married, has two daughters and loves to travel. She has visited Europe, Russia and the Middle East. |
