Our 2009 Oregon Legislative AgendaSenate Bills 891 and 892 are being considered during this current legislative session. These bills are crucial to the funding of the Oregon Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, a free-screening program that helps uninsured women obtain free mammograms. Early detection is the key to survival; support Senate Bills 891 and 892 to ensure that all women, regardless of financial barriers, have access to life-saving mammograms. Dr. Brian Druker, Director, OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, Chris McDonald, Executive Director, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and Senators Diane Rosenbaum (chief sponsor) and Joanne Verger (sponsor) were among those who provided testimony. Chair Laurie Monnes Anderson recommended the bills to a work group which will be scheduled the week of April 13.
