15th Annual Komen Portland Race for the Cure® Brings a Year of Records
Men, women and children took over the streets of Portland during the 15th annual Komen Portland Race for the Cure last September, bringing together more than 45,000 breast cancer survivors, supporters and loved ones in the second largest Portland Race ever. A record-breaking 859 teams, each made up of 10 or more members, raised more than $2.63 million, making this Portland's most financially successful Race to date.
Providence Health System brought together over 2,800 members, forming the second largest corporate team in Portland Race history. Two non-corporate teams had more members than any friends and family team has ever had: Cindy McInnis' team "The Lady in Pink" with 521 members and Pondo Kosmas' team "Gina's Believas" with 511 participants.
Thanks to everyone who went online and asked friends and family for contributions, we were able to reach our online fundraising goal of more than $700,000.
In the wake of last year's Race, we anticipate this year to be even more successful. Mark your calendars and start brushing off your walking shoes because this year's Race is only four months away. The 2007 Komen Portland Race for the Cure will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland. Check our website for online Race Registration on June 1, 2007.
The Komen Portland Race for the Cure wouldn't be successful without the help of our sponsors, and all of you who run, walk and volunteer to make a difference. Thank you and we hope to see you again this September!
