What is Worship in Pink?

Worship in Pink is an opportunity for interfaith congregations to spread the life-saving message about breast cancer screening and early detection and to honor their community's survivors.  The main goal is to provide breast cancer awareness and education to under-screened women in our communities and increase the number of women receiving mammograms. Legacy Health and Komen Oregon have joined together with community sponsor Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon to present Worship in Pink 2011. The primary activities of inspiration, education and hope will occur within the congregations during the Worship in Pink Weekend (October 21-23).

“I strongly encourage every clergy member and congregation to participate in Worship Pink to bring attention to the issue of breast cancer awareness, screening and early detection to save lives.” - Bishop A.R. Obey, New Life Baptist Church, Lacey, Washington

Who can participate in Worship in Pink?
Any Portland or Vancouver church, synagogue, mosque or other interfaith organization can take part. For our first year of Worship in Pink in Oregon, the focus will be on the metropolitan area for distribution of educational materials. If your congregation is outside of this area and you would like more information, please contact Kathy Kendrix at 503-735-1475 or via email at kathyk@empowermentgroupworld.com.
