Race Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the cost to register?
At the Health Expo: Adults = $30 for untimed walking/running events, Adults = $35 for competetive (chip-timed) 5K run, Children ages 6-12 = $10.00 for untimed walking/running events, Kids 5 and under = FREE (but must register to receive a t-shirt)

Q: Can I still register at the Race?
A: Yes. Registration opens at SW Taylor Street in Tom McCall Waterfront Park beginning at 6:30am. Adults= $35, Kids 6-12= $10, Kids 5 & under= free (must register to receive a t-shirt). Note: You must be pre-registered to participate in the chip-timed run. There is no chip-timed registration on Race day.

Q:  Can I pick up my tshirt at the Race?
A: Yes. You can pick up tshirts, bibs and Race pins at Will Call beginning at 6:30am on Race Day. Or you can pick up tshirts, bibs and pins at the Health Expo (Friday and Saturday before the Race). 

Q. Where can I pick up by t-shirt and bib?
A.

Individuals:
T-Shirt and Bibs may be picked up at: (1) Health Expo or (2) Race morning 

        (1) Komen Health Expo at the Oregon Convention Center
        Friday, September 18, 2009:  10am-7pm
        Saturday, September 19, 2009: 10am-4pm

        (2) Race morning: t-shirts and race bibs are also available on Race Day beginning at 6:30 am, but sizes may be limited.

You may pick up another participant's Race bib and T-shirt if they have signed the waiver on the registration form. (Online registrants automatically signed waivers.)

Teams:
T-Shirts and Bibs (You must have 10 or more registrants to qualify as an official Race Team). Team captains will be reminded (via email or regular mail) with the details about team T-shirt/Bib/Pin delivery. All Bib numbers, T-shirts and survivor materials are delivered directly to the team captain* roughly one week prior to the Race. Please coordinate with your team captain to receive your items. If you registered as a Team but you have fewer than 10 people, you must pick up T-shirts and Bibs at the Health Expo or on Race Day.
*All team packets are delivered to the address that the team captain has given when they register
 
Q:  I registered as part of a team, but I haven't received my T-shirt, Bib or Pin.  What should I do?
A:  Contact your team captain. If you didn't get at least 10 participants on your team, you must pick up your t-shirt, bib and pin at the Health Expo or on Race day.

Q: Do I need a confirmation number to pick up my shirt? 
A:  No confirmation is needed, you can pickup your shirt at the Health Expo under your last name. 

Q: Can I pickup a t-shirt and bib for a friend or family member at the expo? 
A: Yes, you can pick up other people’s bib numbers and T-shirts as long as they remember to sign their registration waiver.  (Online registrants automatically sign the waiver.)

Q: If someone was registered for the Race, but they can't make it, can they still get a t-shirt?
A: Yes, we’re happy to give them a T-shirt.  They should contact the Komen Office to check available sizes: racecure@komenoregon.org

Q: Where does the Race start?
A: The starting line is on Naito Parkway near SW Taylor Street. 
 
Q: Where does the Race end?
A: The finish line is at the corner of SW Oak and Naito Parkway.

Q:  Can I bring a pet?
A: Sorry; pets are not allowed at the Race.

Q:  Can I bring a stroller/walker/jogger/wheelchair?
A: Yes, but please be courteous of the participants immediately in your path. For the safety of the person you are pushing and the ankles of the walkers in front of you, please wait until the starting line group has thinned out and is NOT congested before you join the group in the walk of your choice.

Q. Will Max be running?
A. All MAX lines will run on regular Sunday service. Participants are strongly encouraged to ride TriMet (Plan your trip at www.trimet.org) or take advantage of our sponsored free shuttle bus options.

· Because Green Line trains don’t run out of Clackamas Town Center before 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, three extra trips to city center have been added leaving CTC at 6:30 a.m., 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

· On Blue and Red lines, extra trains will be in service from 6 to 9 a.m. to help riders get to the event

· Several bus stops on the race route will be closed in downtown and northwest Portland with signs directing riders to nearby stops.

Make Riding Easy
· Plan extra time. Bus and MAX riders should plan an extra 15 to 30 minutes for their Sunday morning trips.

· Purchase tickets in advance. Discount tickets valid for race day only are available for purchase at the Komen Health Fair at the Oregon Convention Center on Friday, September 18, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Special event tickets are $4.50 for adults, $3 for youth/students and $1.75 for Honored Citizens.

· Plan trips in advance. For complete TriMet schedules and trip planning, visit trimet.org or call 503-238-RIDE (7433) weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Q. Will any roads be closed downtown?
A. Yes - Broadway Bridge is closed in both directions.  The Broadway Bridge is closed in both directions from 7:30 AM until 11:00 AM.  But, all other downtown area bridges are open in both directions all day.

Major streets that are closed (between 7am and approximately 11:30am):     
•W. Burnside between Broadway and 2nd
•Broadway from the Broadway Bridge south to Madison
•SW Taylor from Naito to Broadway
•SW Salmon from Naito to Broadway
•Naito Parkway from SW Clay to NW 15th will be closed from 7am until 12:30pm 
•All downtown streets west of Broadway, and south of SW Main are open all morning.
•Delays crossing SW Taylor and Main Streets.  The route uses SW Taylor and Salmon Streets going west from Naito Parkway.  Motorists wishing to get to the south downtown area along SW 3rd Avenue and SW 5th will encounter delays of 5 to 20 minutes to get south of Salmon.
•ALL FREEWAYS ARE OPEN.

•To get to south downtown area:  Use SW 3rd, but expect delays.
•To get to I-5 South:  Go south on SW 3rd and then turn left onto SW Market and follow the signs.  
•To get to I-5 North:   Go east across the Morrison Bridge. 
•To get to I-84 East:  Go south on SW 3rd, turn right on SW Jefferson, turn left on SW Broadway and follow the signs.
•To get to RiverPlace, motorists must go south on SW 3rd and then turn left onto SW Market and follow the signs.  
•To get to OMSI, motorists must cross the Hawthorne or Morrison Bridges (eastbound) and follow the signs to SE 3rd and Clay.
•To get to the Zoo of Hwy 26, motorists must go south on SW 3rd or SW 5th and then turn right (westbound) onto SW Clay and follow the signs to Highway 26.
•To get to I-405 or NW Portland:, motorists must drive west to SW 14th, turn right (northbound) and continue to W. Burnside and follow the signs.
•To get to the Pearl District, motorists must drive west to SW 10th; turn right (northbound) and continue across W. Burnside into the Pearl District.
