Volunteer

It's Race season!  This year marks the 18th year of our local event, the Komen Portland Race for the Cure®.  On Sunday, September 20, thousands will join together at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland.  Last year, nearly 46,000 participants and 1,200 volunteers joined together for the third largest Komen Race event in the country.  Participants generated more than $2.6 million dollars for the Oregon & SW Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

If you volunteered for last year’s Health Expo or Race for the Cure® you will be receiving information in July via email on how to register for this year’s event. This year's event is scheduled for September 18-20, 2009. If you have not volunteered before and would like to be put on the list, please email Lori Kresse, Volunteer Program Manager at lkresse@komenoregon.orgCheck back in early July for additional information on how you can register to volunteer at this year's Race!

Thank you for supporting our mission to end breast cancer forever!

Why do you volunteer for the Race? What inspires you to get involved? Have you had a particularly interesting or meaningful volunteer experience you would like to share? Komen is currently seeking volunteer stories from past Race volunteers. We'd like to highlight your story and let the public know what a rewarding experience volunteering can be!
