• Survivorship: jumping back into life after cancer treatment - 4 Tuesdays, April 27, May 4, May 11 and May 25, 6-8 p.m

  • Share your experiences with other women who in the post-treatment phase of their cancer journey. Learn ways to integrate the emotional and physical changes   brought about by cancer treatment. Our goal will be to develop a long-term wellness plan for healthy living. Topics will inlcude: after effects of treatment; communicating with your partner, family and friends; setting new priorities; ways to nourish your body and soul. Facilitated by Carla Harwood, RN, BSN. Carla is HEP's Nurse Care Coordinator and an 8-year breast cancer survivor. Note: A brief pre-screening session(on the phone or in-person) with Carla is required before registering. COST: $10 per session

• Yoga For Breast Cancer-Healing from Within - 6 Wednesdays, June 9-July 14, 4-6 p.m

  • East meets West in this innovative group for breast cancer survivors and women in treatment. The benefits of hatha yoga together with therapeutic discussion provide you with a compassionate, supportive place to gently explore and create a new relationship with your body. A discussion begins the group; a restorative class using breath, movement, meditation and relaxation follow. Come join us for support, to meet others, to stretch or to learn breath work. No yoga experience is necessary.Facilitated by Debbi Flittner, MA, RYT. Debbi is a mental health therapist and registered yoga teacher. She incorporates yoga movements, psychotherapy and breathing techniques in individual and group work to facilitate the participants' true healing potential. Note: A brief pre-screening session(on the phone or in-person) with Debbi or Jo is required before registering.Billed to insurance companies as a mental health group. • Acupuncture Clinic for Women with Cancer - Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30-11:00, ongoing, drop-in/First time visitors: pre-registration required

  • We have removed the barriers to receiving regular acupuncture. With our sliding fee scale, no one will be turned away for inability to pay. Group acupuncture for women with cancer offers support and community, relieves side effects of chemotherapy, surgery and radiation, and can reduce stress and anxiety, depression and other symptoms that may arise following treatment for cancer. An initial consultation with acupuncturist Dr. David Eisen, L.Ac, MSW, OMD (am) will help determine an individualized medical treatment plan which may consist of regular acupuncture treatment, herbal medicine, dietary/nutritional consultation and exercise advice, and massage. Comfortable zero gravity chairs and music are part of the ambience of the HEP clinic. The clinic is drop-in, but please call to schedule an initial medical intake.
