Six Tips for Relieving Holiday Stress

Holidays and special occasions can be stressful but when you're coping with breast cancer, tiring treatments and frequent doctor’s appointments, your stress level may escalate.

Here are some suggestions to help you de-stress during the Holidays:

-Ask yourself, “What is important about the occasion?”  Make the time for the most important things and save your energy to enjoy them.
-Listen to your body—don’t push yourself too hard— tell your family and friends how you are feeling.
-Ask for help when tasks or responsibilities become too consuming.
-Give yourself permission to say NO.
-Share your feelings with a support group, a counselor, or a loved one.  It is common to experience a variety of feelings of anticipation, disappointment, and apprehension about the future, especially during the holidays.
-Take time to treat yourself.  Have lunch with a good friend, watch a good movie, or take a good walk.  Engage in something which makes you feel good about yourself!
